Welcome back to a new term. We hope everyone had a wonderful break!! It's lovely to see all of the kids beautiful faces and positive attitudes back again for more important learning. I will be in all this first week as Mrs Martin has some other commitments later this week.
Our News Roster will go up next week. This week we will use the roster from last term and sharing will be spontaneous and free choice.
Daily writing will begin next week and we will keep the same days as last term.
I have updated our parent information board (outside our classroom). Last term I began displaying information from 'Maggie Dent's: 9 Things - A Basic guide to calm, common-sense, connected parenting birth - 8'. Currently on the board is the information regarding the '4th thing - Roosters and Lamb: Temperaments Matter'. Feel free to read it while you are waiting to pick up your child at the end of the day. 'Maggie Dent is an author, educator, and parenting and resilience specialist with a particular interest in the early years and adolescence. Maggie is a passionate advocate for the healthy, common-sense raising of children in order to strengthen families and communities. She has a broad perspective and range of experience that shapes her work, a slightly irreverent sense of humour and a depth of knowledge based on modern research and ancient wisdom that she shares passionately in a commonsense way. I will change the information each week.
This term our learning will touch on the Olympics, animals and "The Olden Days". As always we will try to follow up on the children's interests so please let us know if there is something that your child is fascinated with at present. A sheet will go up near our parent help roster for you to write down anything that your child may wish to learn about.
If anyone has any items from the past that we could use to display and talk about, we would love to share them with our class. (Record players, typewriters, meat safe, old computer, black and white photos, etc) At present we have 'Re-Cyclops' in our room who is made up of items from the past. It has been lent to us very generously and needs to be looked after. The children may touch the typewriter but if you could chat to them about not touching the other parts that would be great.
School photos will be on the 8th and 9th of September.
Information on learning our Sight Words will be sent out next week.
We ask you to reinforce the importance of hygiene rules in order to keep coughs and colds at bay this term. Hand washing, coughing into our arms and using tissues and putting them into the bin straight away are recognised by the children as being important to good health.
Please put your name on the Parent Help Roster and write your chosen date into your diary. It is very important that we have parent helpers on Monday's and Wednesdays for our PMP block.
Don't forget to bring a piece of fruit each day.
If you haven't already please bring back your child's portfolio so we can fill it with more amazing work.
